• Plan your business.
• identify your business's annual turnover

FSSAI Registration / License Eligibility Criteria

The process of application starts with the identification of eligibility of your premises. Depending on the installed capacity (in case of manufacturers) and/or turnover (for another kind of businesses) and/or location, your premise may be eligible for any of the following categories

FSSAI Basic License / Registration

Eligibility: -For Businesses with turnover below Rs. 12 Lac Annually.Basic registration can be upgraded to state license if sales increase.

FSSAI State License

Eligibility: For Businesses with turnover between Rs. 12 Lac to Rs. 20 Cr annually. Or/additionally

Business (Other Than Manufacturing)

• Normal Storage: Capacity up to 50,000 metric tons.
• Cold Storage: Capacity up to 10,000 metric tons.
• Atmosphere Controlled Storage: Capacity up to 1,000 metric tons.
• For Wholesaler: turnover up to 30 crores/annum
• Food Vending Agency: vending machines between 12 to 100 in one State.
• Transporter: up to 100 vehicles/turnover up to 30 crores.
• Hotel: up to 4 Star hotels

For Manufacturer

• Dairy Units: Production of 501 LPD to 50,000 LPD of milk or 2.5 to 2500 metric tons of milk solids per annum.
• Vegetable Oil Processing Units: Production up to 2 metric tons per day.
• All other food Processing Units: All Cereals, grains & pulses milling unit with production between 100 kg to 2 Metric tons per day.

FSSAI Central License

Eligibility: For Businesses with turnover of more than Rs. 20 Cr annually. Or/additionally,

Business (Other Than Manufacturing)

• Normal Storage: Capacity of more than 50,000 metric tons.
• Cold Storage: Capacity of more than 10,000 metric tons.
• Atmosphere Controlled Storage: Capacity of more than 1,000 metric tons.
• For Wholesaler: turnover of more than 30 crores/annum
• Food Vending Agency: more than 100 vending machines in one or more States.
• Transporter: more than 100 vehicles/turnover of more than 30 crores.
• Hotel: up to 4 Star hotels

For Manufacturer

• Dairy Units: Production of more than 50,000 LPD of milk or more than 2500 metric tons of milk solids per annum.
• Vegetable Oil Processing Units: Production more than 2 metric tons per day.
• All other food Processing Units: All Cereals, grains & pulses milling unit with production more than 2 Metric tons per day.
• It is also required in cases where you need to supply at government offices or import/export food products.
