The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) is taking a significant step toward modernizing India’s trade ecosystem. The agency announced plans to launch a pilot of Bharat Aayat Niryat Lab Setu, a digital single-window platform that will connect testing and inspection agencies across India.

The initiative aims to make export and import certifications faster, more transparent, and entirely paperless. By connecting exporters, importers, and recognized labs through one unified online system, the DGFT is targeting smoother coordination and faster turnaround times.
The pilot phase of the platform will begin on November 4, and exporters and importers can start submitting applications for testing and certification from November 11, 2025.
Faster, Transparent, and Traceable Certification
According to DGFT, the Lab Setu platform will eliminate delays in testing and certification. Exporters will be able to search, choose, apply, track, and download digital test reports in one place. This will not only enhance operational efficiency but also boost India’s global reputation for quality assurance.
The system has been designed to promote transparency and traceability while refining access to accredited testing agencies nationwide. It’s expected to minimize manual paperwork, reduce the chances of processing errors, and ensure that test results are easily traceable.
By moving the complete certification process online, the DGFT aims to reinforce confidence among global buyers and trade partners regarding the authenticity of India’s export and import clearances.
Smooth Transition through Parallel Testing
To ensure a seamless transition, exporters and importers will continue to use existing procedures alongside the new Lab Setu system during the pilot phase. This parallel testing approach will help identify any operational challenges and allow modifications based on real user feedback before the full-scale rollout.
DGFT stated that this initiative marks a major move toward building a modern, digital, and globally trusted trade infrastructure that aligns with India’s vision of “Ease of Doing Business.”
