Enhancing Regional Textile Industry
These parks aim to reinforce textile manufacturing infrastructure and encourage large-scale apparel production, boosting regional economies and support the entire textile value chain. The move is expected to position India as a leading location of textile and garment manufacturing globally.
Skill Development through Samarth Scheme
To complement the development of the park, the government’s Samarth Scheme focuses on upgrading hardworking workers in the textile sector. It provides customized, appointment-based training programs covering a variety of sections apart from spinning and knitting. For instance, there are currently 80 active training centres in Haryana run by 26 partners, which prepare a skilled workforce to meet the demand of the industry.
Promoting Exports and Technical Textiles
To further expand India’s textile exports, the government financially supports Export Promotion Councils and trade bodies for contributing in significant trade fairs and buyer-seller meets worldwide. Moreover, the National Technical Textiles Mission (NTTM), with an expenditure of Rs. 1,480 crore from 2020-21 to 2025-26, is advancing the development of technical textiles, comprising initiatives in Haryana, to promote innovation and competitiveness.
With the launch of PM MITRA parks and related schemes like Samarth and NTTM, India is set to renovate its textile sector by enticing substantial investment, generating millions of jobs, and promoting exports. These united efforts will set India’s position as a global textile manufacturing powerhouse.
