Relief for Industries & Designated Consumers (DCs)
This extension comes after numerous rounds of consultations with main stakeholders, including Designated Consumers (DCs), DISCOMs, and BEE accredited energy auditors. The BEE acknowledged the challenges in gathering internal data, completing audits, and setting up proper reporting mechanisms, mainly as this is the first year of RCO compliance implementation under the revised Energy Conservation Act.
Mandatory Certification & Audit Requirements
To guarantee smoother transition and strong implementation, BEE has highlighted that:
- All compliance data must be certified by the Plant Head.
- Reports must be audited by a BEE empanelled Accredited Energy Auditing Firm.
The extension offers DCs a much required window to boost their compliance workflows and enhance renewable energy tracking mechanisms. With India's clean energy goals gaining momentum, the role of accurate and timely reporting becomes even more crucial.
Stakeholders are encouraged to use that extra time to build robust internal systems and ensure complete, audit-ready submissions, ultimately benefiting to India's long-term sustainability targets.
The extended deadline will help industries improve compliance through accurate and timely RCO reporting, strengthen the system and proactively contribute to India’s clean energy future.
