Carbon arc welding (CAW) is a procedure that involves heating metals with an arc between a non-consumable carbon (graphite) electrode and the work-piece to cause coalescence. It was the first arc-welding method to be devised, but it is no longer widely used due to the development of twin-carbon-arc welding and other modifications.
