The Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) released updated data on small business growth in Daman and Diu. Between 2020-21 and 2025-26, a total of 12,804 MSMEs completed Udyam Registration through the Udyam Portal and Udyam Assist Platform.

Daman led the growth with 11,314 units, while Diu contributed 1,490 units. Registrations saw a sharp rise in 2023-24, reflecting easier digital onboarding and wider adoption of the Udyam Portal.
Financial Support Boosts Local Entrepreneurs
Minister of State for MSME, Shobha Karandlaje, highlighted the support schemes for micro enterprises. The Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) provided essential backing to new small businesses.
The Interest Subvention Scheme for Incremental Credit to MSMEs (2018) also benefited both manufacturing and service-sector enterprises, including trading units. These schemes aim to improve productivity and ensure smooth credit flow.
Digital Platforms Make Registration Easier
The Udyam Registration system has made it easier for entrepreneurs to formalize their businesses. Small business owners can now complete registration quickly through the Udyam Portal and access government schemes without delays.
The growing MSME registrations in Daman and Diu show the positive impact of digital onboarding and financial schemes. Continued support will strengthen small businesses and promote local economic development.
