Category: BIS Registration

Product Code: IS 16221 (PART 2)

BIS Registration is mandatory for Solar Inverters

Indian Standard IS 16221 (Part 2) mandates BIS Registration for solar inverters, specifying requirements that solar inverters should exhibit in photovoltaic systems. This registration would ensure compliance with safety and performance standards required for the promotion of renewable energy in India. To help improve the quality and reliability of solar products, the Bureau of Indian Standards has made this registration mandatory towards energy conservation and sustainability.

About Solar Inverter

A solar inverter is a device used in the conversion of DC (direct current) to usable AC (alternating current) from solar panels feeding into the electrical grid. This will help convert the direct sunlight energy captured into electricity or usable power by domestic home appliances. Modern technology also assists the inverter to take care of other additional functionalities to increase the efficiency of operations and provide maximum benefit derived from it.

Usage of Solar Inverters

The solar inverter is applied in numerous residential, commercial, and industrial applications. The solar power installation cannot be complete unless the solar inverters integrate the solar energy. Their utility benefits include higher independence to energy usage, the reduction of electricity bills, and a decrease in the carbon footprint. Thus, solar inverter facilitates the integration of renewable energy into the power grid of the country.

Benefits of BIS Registration for Solar Inverters

BIS registration under IS 16221 (Part 2) has several key benefits, including:

Safety Assurance: The solar inverters are assured to comply with national safety standards, thus ensuring the risk of electrical hazards.
Quality Assurance: The certificate is proof that the products have been tested and meet the established performance criteria, thus increasing consumer confidence.
Market Access: It allows the solar inverters only those that have BIS approval, make way for manufacturers into Indian markets, and ensure regulatory compliance.
Environmental Responsibility: High-quality solar products promoted by BIS lead to increased adoption of renewable energy resources, which helps conserve the environment.
Competitive Advantage: Products with BIS mark are more attractive to customers, giving a competitive edge to manufacturers in this growing area of renewable energy.

In summary, BIS registration for solar inverters under IS 16221 (Part 2) helps standardize quality and safety in the industry. Consumer confidence is built; hence, the product reliability. It also improves access of manufacturers to the market, enabling India to commit to sustainable energy development.
