There must be no communication, whether it be voice or data, passing between the two.

• OSPs can be registered by companies that are incorporated under either the Companies Act of 1956 or the Companies Act of 2013.
• You must utilize Form-I to request OSP Registration from the DoT. You can request it online through the Department of Transportation’s site.
• The OSP Registration is restricted to only one site. Consequently, a company can obtain numerous OSP Registrations.
• The company needs to register for OSP at one site for multiple registrations. After getting the registration certificate for the initial site, the company can request approval from the relevant authorities for the other locations.
• If the company wants to make changes or add a Point of Presence (POP), it is required to inform the DoT.
• Payment for the processing feed is required in addition to submitting the OSP (Other Service Providers) registration application

Registration Process of OSP License

The OSP Registration/License remains valid for twenty years starting from the date it was issued. The OSP Registration can be renewed for an additional ten years once the original twenty-year period has ended, upon the OSP's request. The request to extend the OSP License must be submitted in the 19th year of the registration period.

The final decision on the extension grant will be made by the DoT. The OSP must notify the DoT of any updates to the company’s name or address provided during registration and provide the necessary documentation.

Compliances to follow after getting an OSP license

The OSP must submit the 'Annual Return' to the registering authority in the prescribed Performa within six months of the end of the financial year. The yearly report must include the specifics of the OSP's actions in the prior fiscal year and the current status of their OSP operations. The active OSPs will be added to the 'Active OSP List'. OSPs who do not submit their annual return for three consecutive years will be placed on the 'Dormant List' and their registration will be cancelled after two years.
