The Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana, or PM-RKVY, was introduced in 2007-08 as the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) to encourage holistic agricultural development in states. Initially offering 100% central assistance, the scheme has evolved into a centrally sponsored program with a funding pattern of 60:40 between the Centre and states. For special category states, the ratio stands at 90:10.
In 2014-15, the scheme was revamped and renamed as PM-RKVY. It merged seven central schemes to streamline implementation and improve efficiency. PM-RKVY supports innovative agricultural projects, promotes advanced irrigation systems, encourages mechanization, and facilitates organic farming and agroforestry. It aligns with the government’s broader goals of doubling farmers’ income and ensuring long-term sustainability in agriculture.
States and Union Territories receive financial support under this scheme, which is enhanced through digital platforms like RKVY registration and Gomhsparsh PM-RKVY, helping stakeholders access benefits and information with ease.
