EPR for e-waste is a legal framework introduced under the E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022. In India, this responsibility is governed by the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), it ensures manufacturers and importers to handle the environmental impact of their products. E-waste is the term commonly used for electrical and electronic devices that are no longer in function or wanted anymore. Examples of such objects include computers, smartphones, televisions, and much more. With technology at its high pace, the generation of e-waste around the globe has become the fastest-growing waste stream at millions of tons every year.
EPR e-waste renewal is the formal process of extending an existing EPR authorization issued under India’s E-Waste Management Rules. Every producer dealing with electronic or electrical equipment are required to renew this authorization before expiry to continue operating legally. The renewal process requires proof of target achievements, updated product data, recycling certificates, and compliance reports submitted to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
