What is Unani?
Unani Medicine is considered as the science and art of healing. It is a noble profession of healing the suffering of humanity. The system is popular in society because of its unique approach to preventive and curative aspects of health care. It has got mass acceptance as one of the complementary medical systems.
Today's fast lifestyle, lack of exercise, stressful workload, odd eating habits have led to increases in various diseases affecting the population, which can be adequately handled by an Unani practitioner. Those who are interested in pursuing Unani Medicine as a career should have a good memory, stamina, patience, power of concentration, self-motivation, emotional stability, logical and analytical mind, eagerness to learn all through their career, and ability to take timely decisions.
About AYUSH
The Ministry of AYUSH was formed on 9th November 2014 to ensure the optimal development and propagation of AYUSH systems of health care. Earlier it was known as the Department of Indian System of Medicine and Homeopathy (ISM&H) which was created in March 1995 and renamed as Department of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy (AYUSH) in November 2003, which focused attention for the development of Education and Research in Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy.
If you are interested in ayurvedic medicine manufacturing, you have to take license from AYUSH, but if you are only dealing with selling of ayurvedic medicine you don’t require AYUSH license also. For setting-up ayurvedic clinic and panchakarma center, you need to be a registered ayurvedic practitioner.
Objectives:
- To upgrade the educational standards of Indian Systems of Medicines and Homeopathy colleges in the country.
- To strengthen existing research institutions and to ensure a time-bound research program on identified diseases for which these systems have an effective treatment.
- To draw up schemes for promotion, cultivation, and regeneration of medicinal plants used in these systems.
- To evolve Pharmacopoeial standards for Indian Systems of Medicine and Homoeopathy drugs
